Former Premier League forward Darren Bent suggests that Arsenal may need to part ways with a combination of Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus, and Bukayo Saka to secure the services of Kylian Mbappe, the sought-after Paris Saint-Germain star.

Mbappe’s impending departure from PSG has been widely speculated, as the 25-year-old has reportedly expressed his desire to leave the club at the end of the season rather than extend his contract. Real Madrid appears to be leading the race for the World Cup winner’s signature, with rumours suggesting that club president Florentino Perez has already finalized a deal.

Despite the competition, Arsenal could potentially enter the fray for Mbappe, who boasts an impressive record of 243 goals and 105 assists in 290 appearances for PSG. Mikel Arteta has hinted at his team’s aspirations, stating, “If we want to be the best team, we are going to need the best talent and the best players, that is for sure.”

Bent argues that securing Mbappe would necessitate significant financial investment, potentially requiring the sacrifice of key players like Saka and Odegaard. While acknowledging the difficulty of parting with academy graduate Saka and the talented Odegaard simultaneously, Bent suggests considering their sale in pursuit of Mbappe.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur striker expressed reluctance but proposed scenarios like sacrificing Gabriel Jesus and Odegaard or Gabriel Jesus and Saka to make the deal viable. He emphasized Mbappe’s exceptional talent and versatility, highlighting his ability to excel as a centre-forward or on the right flank.

While Arteta remains hopeful about adding such a calibre of player to Arsenal’s ranks, he clarified that no discussions have taken place yet, leaving the responsibility to sporting director Edu Gaspar.

Arteta, however, believes in Arsenal’s allure for potential signings, citing the club’s rich history as a compelling factor. He emphasized that the club’s reputation has consistently attracted players, with discussions often met with enthusiasm from prospective signings.

Mbappe has previously acknowledged conversations with former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger regarding a potential move to the Emirates, indicating his admiration for the club’s legacy. Additionally, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is reportedly among Mbappe’s footballing idols, further strengthening the connection between the player and the club.
