Emmanuel Petit’s initial encounter with Arsène Wenger occurred during their time together at Monaco, where he began his career as a budding young talent. Their professional bond flourished over the subsequent seven years. Shortly after Wenger assumed the managerial reins at Arsenal, he orchestrated Petit’s move to England, marking the beginning of a fruitful partnership.
During their tenure, they secured a Premier League title and an FA Cup triumph. Petit’s Arsenal stint coincided with his World Cup victory with France, further solidifying his reputation as a midfield maestro. He laments, “Sometimes the grass is not greener somewhere else. It’s better to stay where you are when you receive love and happiness and you are successful. Why would you leave? Definitely [a big regret]. If I could turn the clock back, I would probably make a different decision.”
