Fresh report had confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain is eyeing Victor Osimhen as a potential successor to Kylian Mbappe, intensifying the competition with Arsenal and Chelsea. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen recently showcased his prowess during a UEFA Champions League match against Sporting Braga, further attracting attention.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, PSG has Victor Osimhen high on their list of candidates to fill Mbappe’s shoes if he departs this summer. PSG has been strategizing for Mbappe’s possible exit since last summer, escalating discussions in January to prepare for the potential departure.
Recent reports indicate that Mbappe has informed PSG of his intention to leave as a free agent in the upcoming window, prompting the club to consider making a move for Osimhen. Fabrizio Romano previously hinted at Osimhen’s expected departure from Napoli in the summer, with interest also coming from Chelsea.
However, Romano suggests that Arsenal is also in contention, as they seek to bolster their striking options in the upcoming window. Osimhen himself has hinted at having made decisions about his future, expressing confidence in his ability to steer his career in the right direction.
“I’ve already made up my mind at the end of the season. I already know what I want to do with my career,” Osimhen stated, emphasizing his autonomy in decision-making and his focus on finishing the season strongly before contemplating his next move.
Despite signing a contract extension with Napoli in December, Osimhen has expressed openness to a potential move to the Premier League. When asked about his aspirations to play in the English top tier, Osimhen acknowledged the possibility but indicated that his current focus lies elsewhere, suggesting that he will consider such opportunities when the time is right.
