Napoli updates Victor Osimhen’s contract details; price tag amidst serious interest from Arsenal and other top European giants

Victor Osimhen’s future at Napoli has been a prominent topic during the transfer window, and the ongoing saga is poised to continue. The 25-year-old striker appears destined to depart Italy at the end of the season, attracting interest from clubs across Europe.

While a January move for Osimhen is ruled out, as he dedicates his complete focus to Napoli for the remainder of the campaign, speculation about his summer exit is gaining momentum. The Nigerian striker inked a new contract with Napoli in December, extending his commitment until 2026. Notably, the deal reportedly includes a release clause valued at £112 million, setting the stage for a potential summer departure.

Teams from various corners of Europe, as well as overseas, have expressed interest in Osimhen. Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea have been persistent in their pursuit of the Napoli star for several months, both seeking to bolster their attacking ranks. While previous reports suggested Chelsea’s interest in a January move, it is now anticipated that Todd Boehly will make a significant bid at the season’s conclusion.

Arsenal, too, has reportedly initiated contact with Napoli regarding Osimhen, with manager Mikel Arteta keen on securing the services of the reigning Serie A Golden Boot winner. A summer move is on the horizon, setting the stage for a fierce battle between the London rivals for Osimhen’s signature. Manchester United has also emerged as a potential suitor, while Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs linked to the Nigerian striker.

Addressing the ongoing speculation about his future earlier this month, Osimhen affirmed that he has already made a decision regarding his next steps. In an interview with CBS, he stated, “I have already made my decision on the next step to do at the end of the season. I already made up my mind. I already have my plan, I know what I want to do, the next step I want to take.” Osimhen acknowledged that a significant portion of rumors links him with a move to the Premier League, expressing his admiration for the league as one of the world’s largest.

Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has publicly confirmed that Osimhen is expected to part ways with the club at the end of the season. De Laurentiis remarked, “This [Osimhen’s exit] was already known since this summer, our negotiations [over the new contract] were friendly, otherwise it would not have been so long. We knew he would go to Real Madrid, PSG, or a top English club.” The confirmation from Napoli’s president further solidifies the anticipation surrounding Osimhen’s imminent departure and sets the stage for a high-profile transfer saga in the upcoming summer window.
