Tottenham Hotspur has officially welcomed Timo Werner as their latest addition, and the attacker recently engaged with the media for the first time following his move to North London. Werner shed light on how Ange Postecoglou’s persuasive efforts, the alignment with Spurs’ playing style, and his eagerness to make an impact in the Premier League influenced his decision.

In a surprising turn of events, Spurs sought a new wide player, ultimately securing the services of former Chelsea player Timo Werner on a six-month loan deal. During this period, the club will cover his salary, with an option for a permanent move at €17m (£14.6m), according to Fabrizio Romano. The transfer was not only a strategic move but also a testament to the personal desire of Ange Postecoglou, who actively advocated for Werner’s inclusion.

Werner, now officially a Spurs player, expressed his satisfaction with the manager’s influence during a phone call, stating, “I talked with the manager and it was a good talk. He gave me straight away the feeling of what I need to join a club, what I want to feel when you talk to a manager.” The German international was impressed by Postecoglou’s tactics and playing style, believing it aligns perfectly with his abilities.

Discussing his potential role at the club, Werner highlighted his versatility, saying, “I hope I can be the best player I can be here as I want the challenge. I can play every position up front. That’s always good when you can have players that can play in all kinds of positions.” He emphasized the strategic advantage of being flexible in various positions, making it challenging for opponents to predict their attacking approach.

Reflecting on his return to the Premier League, Werner expressed a strong desire to compete at the highest level: “When I left the Premier League, you already feel straight away that you missed something because it’s the best league in the world.” His aspiration extends beyond personal success, with a clear intent to contribute to Spurs’ pursuit of titles. Werner’s enthusiasm and hunger to succeed in North London were evident in his statements, resonating positively with Spurs Web Opinion, which anticipates a successful chapter for the German attacker in his new club.
