“He has no future with us” – Mikel Arteta officially forces midfielder out of the club as he sells him off over his poor performance

Arsenal has reportedly made the decision to capitalize on Albert Sambi Lokonga, with Football Insider recently asserting that the Belgian midfielder has no foreseeable future at the Emirates.

Despite securing a loan move to newly promoted Luton Town for the season, the 24-year-old Lokonga has struggled to make an impact, garnering only seven Premier League starts and failing to impress manager Rob Edwards.

Currently on loan at Luton, Lokonga’s prospects of a permanent stay seem dim, as he is not expected to be in high demand by the Hatters at the conclusion of the season. The midfielder, deemed surplus to requirements by Mikel Arteta, is on the verge of departing the club.

Undoubtedly, Lokonga has fallen short of expectations since his €17.5 million move in 2021 from Anderlecht. In Arteta’s pecking order, players like Thomas Partey, Jorginho, and marquee summer signing Declan Rice rank well above Lokonga, making his departure from Arsenal foreseeable.

The major challenge for Lokonga lies in persuading another club to take a risk on him, particularly given his inability to consistently secure a spot in Luton’s starting lineup.

During his two-and-a-half-year tenure with the Gunners, Lokonga, whose contract extends until 2026, has failed to register a goal or an assist in 39 games across all competitions.
