RB Leipzig’s and former Chelsea top player, Timo Werner is reportedly open to a January move to Manchester United, aiming to showcase his skills in the Premier League. This was confirmed by Sky sports and the Bundesliga side is willing to facilitate a loan deal for the German striker, provided he secures a starting position at his new club.

Struggling in the attacking department, Manchester United seeks reinforcements before the January transfer window closes, having managed only 22 league goals in 20 games this season. Exploring various options, they have initiated contact to gauge the potential cost of acquiring Werner.

Previously on United’s radar before his move to Chelsea in 2020, a loan arrangement could suit the Red Devils as they navigate Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Werner, having spent two years with Chelsea, contributed significantly with 23 goals in 89 appearances, including a UEFA Champions League triumph in his debut season, before returning to RB Leipzig.

Since rejoining the German club, Werner has notched 18 goals in 54 games. The question of whether he possesses the qualities to boost Manchester United’s goal-scoring prowess remains uncertain.

During his initial stint with RB Leipzig, Werner impressed with 95 goals in 159 games, earning a lucrative £47 million transfer to Chelsea. United now eyes him as a potential solution, especially with Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund struggling to make an impact in the Premier League, tallying only one league goal in 15 games.

Marcus Rashford’s recent dip in form adds to United’s attacking concerns. While the prospect of Werner’s arrival may not generate overwhelming excitement among fans, the desire to prove himself could be a motivating factor for the German striker, potentially revitalizing United’s front line.
