In an exclusive report by Daily Cannon’s Dan Critchlow, it has been disclosed that Arsenal’s young forward, Khayon Edwards, has finalized a loan move to Leyton Orient for the remainder of the season. This move presents a promising opportunity for Edwards to acquire crucial first-team experience.

Edwards has consistently stood out in Arsenal’s youth ranks, gaining recognition for his rapid pace and sharp instincts in front of goal. Despite grappling with injuries in the previous season, the 20-year-old managed to make an impact, scoring five goals from 13 starts at the U21 level. Prior to that, he showcased his prowess with the under-18s, emerging as the top scorer with 18 goals from 20 academy league matches. His versatility, demonstrated by his ability to play as a forward or in a deeper No. 10 role, showcasing adept link-up play, has been integral to his development.

In the ongoing season, Edwards has continued his impressive form in the Premier League 2, featuring in 10 matches and scoring seven goals. Furthermore, his contributions in the EFL Trophy have been noteworthy, with two goals and two assists in four appearances.

The move to Leyton Orient signifies a significant progression in Edwards’ career, providing him with a platform to exhibit his talent in a competitive environment. Edwards’ association with Arsenal dates back to the pre-academy at the age of five, marking this loan move as a crucial step in his development.

Leyton Orient recently confirmed the departure of 25-year-old forward Aaron Drinan to Swindon Town in League Two. While details of Edwards’ loan deal were reportedly finalized just moments before the deadline, he is expected to join Leyton Orient for training on Friday.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the move, Edwards stated on Orient’s website, “I’m really excited to be joining Leyton Orient. I know that the club were promoted last season and have had a good first half to this season. I’m really excited about making the step up to senior football and I have really enjoyed the chances that I have got in the EFL Trophy this season. I hope that I can come in, get my chance and help the club to have a strong second half of the season by scoring some goals.” This move marks a significant chapter in Edwards’ career, providing him with an opportunity to contribute to Leyton Orient’s success in the latter part of the season.
