Arsenal achieved a remarkable feat by breaking their set-piece record, tallying eleven goals in two consecutive away matches with a resounding 5-0 victory over Burnley.

Following their commanding 6-0 win against West Ham at the London Stadium last Sunday, the Gunners narrowed the gap to just two points behind Liverpool with yet another impressive performance.

Martin Odegaard initiated the scoring, and Arsenal extended their lead in the first half after Leandro Trossard was fouled in the penalty area, granting Bukayo Saka the opportunity to convert from the spot.

Saka capitalized on the chance, beating Burnley’s goalkeeper, James Trafford, marking Arsenal’s 24th goal from set-pieces in this Premier League season, surpassing their previous record of 23 set in the 2004/05 campaign.

The second half saw Saka notch his second goal of the game, bringing his season tally to 15 goals. However, Arsenal didn’t stop there, as Trossard and Kai Havertz also found the back of the net, propelling the Gunners to a commanding 5-0 lead.

This achievement also marked the first time in their history that the north London side won their opening five matches in a calendar year.

The dominant display in their last two victories resulted in Arsenal boasting a goal difference of five goals superior to Manchester City, who were set to face Chelsea later on Saturday. A win for Pep Guardiola’s side would have levelled them on points with Mikel Arteta’s men.
