Bayern Munich suffers a major setback ahead of UCL clash with Arsenal as top striker is ruled out for a long time over injury

Shortly after the Champions League quarter-final draw paired Arsenal with Bayern Munich, Harry Kane, the former Tottenham star, faced a setback as he was forced off the pitch with an injury. Kane, who had just scored his 31st Bundesliga goal of the season, contributing to Bayern’s comeback victory, was unable to complete the match.

Thomas Tuchel, Bayern’s manager, made the difficult decision to substitute his star forward with less than 20 minutes remaining, as Bayern secured a 5-2 win over Darmstadt, the bottom-ranked team in the league. This fixture occurred less than three weeks before Bayern’s anticipated visit to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal.

Kane boasts an impressive record against Arsenal from his tenure at Tottenham, where he netted 14 goals in 19 fiercely contested derby matches. The England captain emerged victorious in seven encounters, drew five, and suffered seven defeats against Arsenal during his time at Spurs. He undoubtedly aims to continue his success against Arsenal under Mikel Arteta’s leadership next month.

However, Kane’s prospects of featuring in the upcoming clash have been dampened after a collision with the goalpost during Bayern’s match on Saturday. Despite assisting Jamal Musiala for an equalizer and scoring a crucial goal just before halftime, Kane’s injury prevented him from adding to his impressive tally of 37 goals in all competitions.

Following his collision with the post, Kane received on-field treatment before being substituted due to the pain he experienced. Despite this setback, Kane is scheduled to represent England in upcoming matches against Brazil and Belgium next week.

Bayern faces additional league fixtures against Borussia Dortmund and Heidenheim before their journey to London for the first leg of their encounter with Arsenal. Although Kane’s injury raises concerns, it appears unlikely that he will be sidelined for an extended period at this stage.
