Ahead of the Summer transfer window, Arsenal unveils plans to sign two strikers in a deal worth £110 million pounds

According to HITC’s Graeme Bailey, Arsenal scouts dedicated the weekend to evaluating two attacking prospects, Pedro Neto from Wolves and Ivan Toney from Brentford, both heavily linked with a potential move to the Emirates Stadium this upcoming summer transfer window.

With Mikel Arteta aiming to strengthen his attacking options, despite Arsenal’s recent four-game run showing promise in the attack, the first half of the season highlighted the team’s offensive struggles, especially before the winter break. While the defence and midfield demonstrated resilience and efficiency, generating chances, the inability of the strikers to convert opportunities into goals underscored the need for improvement in the attacking department.

Concerns arose regarding the absence of a clinical striker, leading to suggestions of rotating wingers and occasionally resting Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, whose performances were becoming somewhat predictable. While Martinelli received occasional rest to maintain freshness, Saka, a vital component of Arsenal’s right wing, lacked a credible substitute.

In response to the pressing need for reinforcements, Arsenal reportedly turned to the transfer market, dispatching scouts to observe Pedro Neto and Ivan Toney during the Wolves vs. Brentford fixture this past weekend.

Toney impressed with a notable performance, scoring in Brentford’s 2-0 victory over Wolves, marking his third goal in four games since returning from suspension. Sky Sports rated his performance with a solid 7/10 grade. Despite initial reservations among some Arsenal supporters regarding Toney’s January acquisition and his potential adaptation period, his recent displays have proven his value, prompting suggestions for his signing in the summer.

Meanwhile, Neto showcased his skills in the match, maintaining his consistent form, albeit without scoring or assisting. His impressive performance earned him a 7/10 rating from Sky Sports. Considering Toney and Neto’s ability to excel for their respective clubs, it is speculated that they could replicate their success at a prestigious club like Arsenal.

Toney, initially valued at £100 million during the winter transfer window, may see his price tag decrease to £50 million in the summer due to his expiring contract. On the other hand, Neto’s potential acquisition could cost Arsenal around £60 million, as reported by Football London, resulting in a combined expenditure of approximately £110 million for both players.

Securing Toney and Neto’s services in the summer transfer window would significantly bolster Arteta’s attacking options, providing the team with added depth and potentially elevating Arsenal to the next level of competitiveness.
