The giants of Ligue 1, PSG are reportedly compiling a roster of offensive-minded prospects in anticipation of the 2024-25 season, as they brace themselves for the departure of their star player Kylian Mbappe. Earlier, Mbappe purportedly communicated his intention to leave Parc des Princes once his contract expires at the culmination of the current season.
Despite this, Mbappe has continued to represent Luis Enrique’s squad this season, recently notching a brace in their 2-1 triumph over Real Sociedad in the Champions League round of 16, elevating his total goal count to 34 across all competitions from as many matches.
Amidst the uncertainty surrounding Mbappe’s future, with Real Madrid heavily rumored to secure his services on a free transfer this summer, numerous attackers have been linked with a potential move to PSG.
However, as per reports from Fichajes, Les Parisiens have earmarked Arsenal’s winger Saka as a potential successor to Mbappe for the upcoming season. The report further suggests that PSG would be prepared to present a ‘record offer’ of at least €140m (£120m) in an attempt to entice the 22-year-old to the French capital.
This substantial offer could potentially be enticing for Arsenal, representing a record sale for the club, surpassing the £35m received from Liverpool for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2017.
Nonetheless, Arsenal is currently hesitant to part ways with one of their standout players, who enjoys immense popularity among the fans and has become a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s squad in recent years.
Since his senior debut in November 2018, Saka has accumulated 214 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, netting 54 goals and providing 55 assists.
Saka’s development has been remarkable in recent seasons, establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s top performers. His contributions have been instrumental in Arsenal’s ascent as title contenders and their return to Champions League contention at the Emirates Stadium.
As the leading scorer for Arsenal this season with 16 goals in 35 matches across all competitions, Saka has outshone his teammates by a margin of at least six goals. Additionally, he has registered a team-high of 13 assists.
On the international stage, Saka has made significant strides for England, scoring 11 goals in 32 appearances and cementing his status as a vital player for Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate ahead of Euro 2024. Arsenal secured Saka’s services on a new long-term contract in May of last year, extending his tenure at the Emirates until the summer of 2027.
