Arsenal is seriously considering securing a deal to acquire Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP during the upcoming summer transfer window, as indicated by insights shared by Fabrizio Romano.

The latest updates on Arsenal’s pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres reveal a strong interest in the Swedish international. The Mirror previously reported Arsenal’s eagerness to enlist Gyokeres, and now, Fabrizio Romano has reiterated the club’s consideration, countering claims of Chelsea’s involvement.

Romano, a reputable source, affirmed on X (formerly known as Twitter) that Mikel Arteta is indeed contemplating a move for Gyokeres, dismissing suggestions of Chelsea’s interest and reinforcing Arsenal’s pursuit.

Arteta and Edu’s contemplation of Gyokeres as a potential addition to Arsenal’s squad does not come as a surprise. The Swedish forward, actively monitored by Arsenal scouts, has had a stellar season since his £20 million transfer from Coventry to Sporting CP in July 2023.

Gyokeres’ impressive performance in Portugal includes 31 goals and 11 assists in 34 appearances, surpassing renowned players like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in terms of goal contributions.

In terms of negotiating a deal with Sporting CP, Arsenal faces a clear yet pricey path. Gyokeres possesses a release clause of €100 million (£85 million) embedded in his contract, a detail officially confirmed on Sporting CP’s website. While negotiations with Gyokeres himself are essential, convincing him to join Arsenal should not pose significant challenges given the club’s stature.

If Arsenal successfully secures Gyokeres’ transfer, it would mark an exciting addition to the squad, considering the remarkable number of goal contributions the 25-year-old has made this season. Fans are advised to monitor this developing situation closely, as Gyokeres emerges as a prominent figure in the upcoming summer transfer window.
