Aurelio De Laurentiis In an Interview, disclosed that despite offering a significantly more lucrative deal for Spurs player, Radu Dragusin opted to reject their proposal, ultimately choosing to join Tottenham instead. Despite Bayern Munich’s last-minute efforts to secure the Genoa centre-back, Dragusin decided to sign with the English club.
Tottenham finalized a deal with Genoa, agreeing to a transfer fee of €25 million plus €5 million in potential add-ons, securing the promising young defender on a six-year contract. This transaction catapults Dragusin to the title of the most expensive Romanian footballer to date.
Nevertheless, it has recently come to light that Napoli also expressed strong interest in acquiring his services and presented an offer superior to any other club’s bid. This revelation was confirmed by the club president during a recent interview.

De Laurentiis stated (via Area Napoli), “I offered him more than anyone. No other club matched the financial terms we proposed. Despite Genoa’s response and Bayern Munich’s interest, the player’s preference was England. It wasn’t solely about money; sometimes, a player’s aspirations lead them in a certain direction. We made our best effort, but ultimately, Dragusin made a different choice.”
Additionally, Dragusin’s agent revealed post-transfer that the player had received more lucrative offers from other clubs but had set his sights on a move to England. Although Dragusin has yet to secure his first start under Ange Postecoglou, it’s only a matter of time before he earns regular playing time for Tottenham.
Competing with established defenders like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven for a spot in the starting lineup won’t be easy, given their exceptional form. However, Dragusin’s talent and determination suggest that he’ll soon make his mark for the Lilywhites.
