During an interview with Sky Sports alongside Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson offered some revealing insights into his Arsenal teammate, Gabriel Magalhaes’ approach to training at London Colney.

When asked about their opinion on the best central defender in the Premier League, Nelson and Nketiah unanimously named Gabriel as England’s top defender. The conversation then shifted towards Gabriel’s training demeanor.

Nelson remarked, “You don’t wanna go near him, he’s one of those rash players, but his intensity is good.”

However, amidst the jest, there’s a note of caution regarding Gabriel’s approach.

Nevertheless, the intensity of training sessions at London Colney is not foreign, as highlighted by memorable clashes such as Alexandre Lacazette and Cedric’s confrontation depicted in Amazon Prime’s “All or Nothing” documentary about Arsenal.

Despite the rough and tumble, Gabriel’s commitment to training reflects positively on his performance on the pitch. His outstanding campaign for the Gunners is a testament to his relentless work ethic.

Nelson’s observations echo similar sentiments shared by other Arsenal players. Mika Biereth, currently on loan at Sturm Graz, recalled a physical encounter with Gabriel during a training session at London Colney.

The Danish striker recounted, “One of the first sessions I was over there, I was trying to hold the ball up and big Gabi just clattered through the back of me. It felt like a car crash. He is massive and I would have only been 18 at the time.”

Gabriel’s uncompromising approach in training underscores his commitment to giving his all, regardless of the opponent. In essence, Gabriel’s dedication to training mirrors his performance on the field, demonstrating his unwavering determination to excel for Arsenal.
